A full-grain duffel that disappears between trips. Empty, the bag flattens to about two inches at its thickest point — slim enough to slide onto a shelf, sturdy enough to stand on its edge in a closet corner.
Packed vs. empty
Same bag, two states. Packed at 21 × 12 × 9 inches for a three-day kit. Empty, it folds to a slab about the thickness of a paperback. The bag earns its closet space by being honest about its volume when it's not in use.
Stands like a folder
Stand the empty bag on its long edge in the corner of a closet, beside the suitcases. Bartacked seams hold the silhouette upright — it doesn't slump. Pull it out by the top handle when the next trip comes.
Packs flat
Empty, the bag folds to about two inches at its thickest point. Slide it onto the shelf above your hanging coats. Slide it under the bed. Full-grain leather has body memory — the more it's stored flat, the flatter it settles.

Solid brass, not plated. Bartacked at every stress point. Studs on the base so the leather never touches the ground. Edge-painted seams, sealed against moisture. Trolley sleeve, hand-set.

Solid brass zipper pulls.
Solid brass, not brass-plated zinc. The pull is the metal — when it scratches, more brass shows through. Develops a golden, understated patina with use.
Without: plated pulls flake at the corners within a year, exposing a duller alloy beneath.
Heritage hardware spec
Padded leather top handles.
Full-grain rolled handles, padded for grip, threaded through solid brass D-rings, anchored to the body with polished brass rivets. Not glued. Not single-stitched through the leather.
Without: glued or single-stitched handles peel away from the body where the carry weight concentrates.
Saddler-grade construction
Solid brass D-rings.
Forged solid brass, welded closed, set into a leather tab that is bartacked to the body. No open seam to bend out. Holds the bag fully loaded, indefinitely.
Without: open-loop hardware bends straight under load, then the strap walks off the ring.
Welded brass, not stamped
Trolley pass-through sleeve.
A full-width leather sleeve threads over the handle of a roller suitcase. The bag rides locked, not balanced. Hand-set and stitched on three sides so it cannot tear free under load.
Without: bags without one slide off the trolley handle the first time the suitcase tilts.
Travel-system construction
Bartacked stress points. Hand-painted edges.
Every load-bearing tab — handle base, strap anchor, D-ring mount — is locked with a bartack. Every cut leather edge is hand-buffed and edge-painted in three coats. Water does not wick into the seam.
Without: single-stitched anchor tabs tear free under load; raw-cut edges fuzz into a grey halo within a season.

Solid brass base studs.
Five solid-brass protector studs on the underside. The leather base never touches the ground — the studs do. Stops scuffing on hotel-room tile, airport floors, the trunk of a car.
Without: a leather base without studs sands itself smooth in the first 90 days of real use.

Will it actually fit in the overhead bin?
21 × 12 × 9 in soft full-grain leather. Comfortably under most major airlines' overhead allowances. Stamped through Air Canada, WestJet, Delta, United, American, Southwest, JetBlue, Lufthansa without gate-checks. Always verify your specific airline's policy — budget carriers can be strict.
Does it survive being checked?
Yes. Full-grain leather actually handles checked-bag treatment better than rigid shells — it absorbs impact instead of cracking. Bartacked stress points handle the conveyor belt. The patina deepens; the bag doesn't break.
What if it gets wet on a rainy travel day?
Light rain, splashes, snow — fine. Pull-up oils give natural water resistance. Don't submerge it. If it gets wet, blot dry and air-dry naturally — never use a hair dryer or radiator.
How big is the shoe compartment?
Fits up to a US men's size 13 / EU 47. Most travelers carry 2 pairs of dress shoes or 1 pair of sneakers + a dopp kit. Bottom-access zip keeps it isolated from the main compartment.
Will TSA / customs flag the leather?
No. Leather travels normally and is allowed worldwide. Bag opens flat for inspection. Solid metal hardware shows clean on X-ray.
How do I care for it on the road?
Wipe clean with a dry cloth between trips. Condition every 3–6 months — our Leather Care Kit is matched to the tannage. Store in the dust bag at home.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Defects in materials or workmanship — stitching, hardware, leather integrity. Repaired or replaced, our choice. Doesn't cover normal wear (patina is a feature), lost items, or intentional damage.
