On a boundary (waist 35, 37, or 39)? Order the bigger band. It sits with room to spare. You can trim a belt or punch a hole, but you can't add length.
Every belt has 7 holes, so the size you order gives you 3 inches of room in either direction. You don't have to be exact.

How do I pick the right size?
Tap “Size guide” next to the Add to Cart button. It gives you three ways to get it right: by pants size, by waist measurement, or by measuring a belt you already love. Quick rule: your pants size determines your belt size. A 34-waist jean wearer orders the 32–34 belt. A 38-waist orders the 36–38 belt.
If you're between sizes, size up. You can always punch an extra hole closer in, but you can't add length. And if it's wrong, free 30-day exchange.
How does the Buy 1, Get 1 Free deal work?

Will the belt fit through standard pant loops?
Yes. The belt is 1.5 inches (38mm) wide, standard for jeans, chinos, and most dress trousers. Fits every common belt loop including 5-pocket denim. For super-fitted dress trousers with very narrow loops (under 1.5"), check the loop width on your trousers first. Most off-the-rack dress pants accommodate 1.5" without issue.
Buying as a gift but don't know their size?
Two options. First, sneak a peek at one of their belts and use the "measure your favorite belt" method in the size guide (it works without their waist measurement). What's the buckle made of?
An antique brass single-prong buckle, 40mm. It's held on with two Chicago screws, so you can unscrew it and swap or replace it without retiring the strap. If you have a specific metal sensitivity, email us before ordering and we'll help.
Can I shorten the belt myself?
Yes. The buckle is held on by two Chicago screws. Unscrew them, trim the leather to length with a sharp knife or scissors, screw the buckle back on. Takes 5 minutes. Or take it to any cobbler for a $5 trim. The two-screw fold holds the buckle securely and lets you swap it later.
Will it feel stiff at first?
Yes, and that's how you know it's real full-grain leather. The belt is firm out of the box because it's a single 4.2mm hide, not bonded scraps. It softens and molds to your body within 2–3 weeks of daily wear. By week two it'll feel like it's always been there.
What does this belt pair with?
The honey-tan tone is warm. It pairs with brown leather shoes and brown wallets, and is the more relaxed pick with denim or chinos. For black dress shoes and dress trousers, look at our Tradesman Black belt instead. The classic rule (match belt to shoes) still holds, but matching wallets and watch straps works just as well.
How does the leather age over time?
Full-grain leather darkens at the wear points (the buckle hole you use most, the bend through the loop) and lightens where it flexes. After a year, the belt has a unique patina that maps to how YOU wear it. After five years, it's heirloom-grade. The first scuff is the worst it'll ever look.
How do I care for it?
Wipe with a dry cloth as needed. Condition every 6 months with a quality full-grain leather conditioner. If wet, blot dry and air-dry naturally. Avoid prolonged direct sun or extreme heat.
Is it water-resistant?
Light splashes are fine. The leather has natural water resistance. It is not waterproof, so don't soak it. If it gets caught in heavy rain, blot with a soft cloth and let it air-dry naturally. Do not apply heat (no hairdryers, no radiators).
