The closure.
Two leather retaining straps run down the front to metal buckles. Behind them, a top zip with double sliders closes the mouth. Straps for the hold, zip for the security.
Without: a single flap that gaps open when the bag is full.

The top zip.
The top zip runs on two sliders, so you open from either end or meet them in the middle. Under the zip is a slot for the padded top handle to pass through. Closed, the mouth is secure. Open, it lays wide.

How you carry it.
A padded rolled top handle, riveted at both ends, for the walk from car to desk. A removable shoulder strap clips to side D-rings with metal swivel snap-hooks for the longer haul. Worn across the body, the weight sits off your arm and spreads across your back. Take the strap off and it's a clean briefcase.
Without: a sewn-in strap you can never get rid of.

The profile.
Five inches of gusset means the bag holds its shape full or empty. It carries a full workday without slumping. On the back, a pass-through strap slides over a rolling carry-on handle so the bag rides on top of your suitcase.
Without: a flat folio that buckles the moment you load it.

The interior.
A padded sleeve holds the laptop against the back wall. Open front pockets take the chargers and cables. A cardholder for business cards, a penholder for the pen you actually use, and a zip pocket on the back for the passport. Lined in high-density polyester twill. Lighter than leather, and it won't crack.
Without: one open pit and a scratched laptop.

The price of a bag lives in the parts you only notice after a year. Here are the three that matter.
The leather
Full-grain, 2mm. Not bonded, not coated, not corrected. This is the top layer of the hide with the grain left intact, the strongest part of the leather and the part cheaper bags shave off to save money. The Crazy Horse Brown is an oil pull-up tannage that marbles when it flexes and deepens as it ages. The Black is a pebbled full-grain that holds its character. Same hide grade, two finishes.
The hardware
Metal buckles, D-rings, swivel hooks, and zip sliders. Antique brass finish on the Crazy Horse Brown, polished silver on the Black. The metal is riveted into the leather at the stress points, not stitched to a lining that lets go. No plastic clips anywhere on the bag.
The construction
Every raw edge is painted and burnished by hand, not left frayed or folded under. Stress points are reinforced and double-stitched. The lining is high-density polyester twill: lighter than a leather lining, and it won't crack over the years. Everything is cut, stitched, edge-painted, and riveted in one shop.

Every Messenger is cut, stitched, edge-painted, and riveted in our own shop in Mississauga, from imported leather. The leather is chosen by hand. The edges are painted by hand. The rivets are set by hand. That is where the $499 goes: into cutting, stitching, edge-painting, and riveting. Not into a logo or a middleman. We won't fake a ten-year photo. Here's the honest version of how each leather changes.
Day one · Crazy Horse Brown
A warm cognac with the natural pull-up marbling of oil-tanned leather.
Brown, broken in
The oils shift with handling. High spots lighten, creases darken, the color evens out.
Brown, years in
Cognac deepens toward mahogany. The bag carries a record of where it's been.
Black, holding
The pebbled Black is full-grain too. It doesn't patina the same way. It holds its character and stays sharp.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover cosmetic aging, because cosmetic aging is the point. Full-grain leather changes with use. The Brown shows it more, the Black less. Want it to stay close to how it arrived? Choose the Black. Want it to earn a story? Choose the Brown.

Guaranteed against defects, not against age.
Lifetime against manufacturing defects. Does not cover normal wear, misuse, accidental damage, or cosmetic aging of leather. We lead with what it doesn't cover on purpose. If a seam fails or hardware breaks in normal use, that's on us, for as long as you own the bag. If the leather softens, marbles, and deepens over the years, that isn't a defect. That's full-grain doing exactly what it's supposed to do. A bag that never ages isn't leather.

Will my 17" laptop fit?
Yes. The Messenger fits up to a 17" laptop, sleeved or naked, flat against the padded back panel. A4 documents sit flat next to it. If your laptop is 15" or 16", it fits with room to spare.
Is this real full-grain leather?

Does it work with a rolling suitcase?
Yes. A pass-through strap on the back slides over the extended handle of a rolling carry-on, so the bag rides on top of your suitcase through the airport.
How do I take care of it?
A free Leather Care Kit ships with every bag. For the Crazy Horse Brown, a light conditioning once or twice a year keeps the leather fed. The Black needs even less. Keep either one out of long soaks and it will age well for years.
What does the warranty cover?
Lifetime against manufacturing defects. It does not cover normal wear, misuse, accidental damage, or cosmetic aging of leather. If a seam or a piece of hardware fails in normal use, we fix or replace it. The leather changing over time is expected, not a defect.
Can I return or exchange it?
Yes. If it isn't right, return it in unused condition for a refund, or exchange the color, within 30 days. Buying it as a gift? The exchange path is the same, so the color choice is never a risk.

The Messenger is priced 1:1 in USD, so it's $499 USD. Shipping is free to both Canada and the US.
