One rule: order the belt that includes your pants waist. If you're between sizes, size up.
Order the belt size that includes your pants waist. That's the whole rule.

On a boundary (waist 35, 37, or 39)? Order the bigger band. It sits with room to spare. You can trim a belt or punch a hole, but you can't add length.
Every belt has 5 holes, so the size you order gives you 2 inches of room in either direction. You don't have to be exact.
Don't know your pants size?
Grab a belt you already wear. Measure from the buckle fold to the hole you actually use. That inch number is your belt size.
Wrong size? Free exchange.
Order with confidence. We'll swap it for the right size free within 30 days, across Canada and the US.

Sharp where the rest are rugged.
Cut from one piece of full-grain hide. Stitched down both edges and finished with a squared brushed-gunmetal buckle. The stitch is decorative. It holds nothing together.
Wear it where it counts.
Six looks. Tailoring, the office, and close enough to read the stitch.

Why cheap belts cost more.
Here's the math nobody runs at checkout.
Line by line, the difference.
Guaranteed for life. Or we replace it.
If your Draftsman ever fails from a manufacturing defect (a broken buckle or split leather), we'll repair it or replace it. Lifetime against manufacturing defects. Does not cover normal wear, misuse, accidental damage, or cosmetic aging of leather.
Most buy the pair.
Questions, answered straight.
How do I pick the right size?
Tap “Size guide” next to the Add to Cart button. Quick rule: your pants size determines your belt size. A 34-waist orders the 32–34 belt. If you're between sizes, size up. Free 30-day exchange if it's wrong.
Doesn’t the stitching mean it’s two pieces glued together?
Fair question. That is exactly what a cheap belt is. Two thin layers of bonded leather, glued, with a stitch line down each side to hide the seam and stop it peeling.
The Draftsman is cut from a single piece of full-grain hide. The stitch is decorative. It holds nothing together. Pull the thread out and it is still a belt.
When yours arrives, check it yourself. Look at the cut edge. One solid layer, or two glued ones. Thirty days to send it back if it is not what we said it is.
How is this different from the Tradesman?
Both are black full-grain leather. The difference is the finish.
The Draftsman is stitched down both edges and wears a squared, brushed-gunmetal buckle. That stitch line is what makes a belt read as dressy — it's the one to wear with tailoring, or at a desk.
The Tradesman is unstitched with a rounded buckle. Softer, more casual — it's the one for denim and chinos.
If you're deciding: get the Draftsman for the office and the Tradesman for the weekend. Add both and the cheaper one is free at checkout anyway.
How does the Buy 1, Get 1 Free deal work?
Add 2 belts to your cart (same belt or different models) and the lower-priced belt comes off free automatically at checkout. No code needed. Buy 4 and 2 are free; 6 and 3 are free.
Will the belt fit through standard pant loops?
Yes. It is a standard dress-belt width and fits the loops on off-the-rack suit trousers, chinos and denim.
If your trousers have unusually narrow loops, measure the loop first. Most dress trousers take it without issue.
Buying as a gift but don't know their size?
Two options. First, measure one of their belts and use the "measure your favorite belt" method in the size guide (works without their waist measurement). Second, order any size and include a gift receipt at checkout. We'll send a Bellvari gift receipt that lets them swap free without a payment refund showing on your card.
What's the buckle made of?
A squared, single-prong buckle in brushed gunmetal. Matte, low shine, no bright plating to chip or flake.
Nothing else in the line wears a squared gunmetal buckle. That is the detail that makes this one the dress belt.
If you have a metal sensitivity, email us before you order and we will help.
Can I shorten the belt myself?
We would rather you did not cut it yourself. Any cobbler will trim a belt to length in a few minutes for a few dollars, and the cut edge will be finished properly.
If the size you need sits between our bands, order the larger one and have it trimmed. Or email us after ordering and we will help you get it right.
Will it feel stiff at first?
A little. Full-grain leather is firm out of the box. That is what firm leather does, and it is why it lasts.
It softens over two or three weeks of daily wear and takes the bend of how you actually wear it.
What does this belt pair with?
Tailoring, first. Charcoal and navy suiting, wool trousers, a white or a blue shirt. This is the belt for a jacket, an interview, a wedding.
It dresses down cleanly too. Black leather with stone chinos or dark denim, as long as the rest of the fit is sharp.
One rule worth keeping: match the leather to your shoes. Black belt, black shoes.
How does the leather age over time?
Black leather does not change colour the way tan does. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
What changes is the feel. It softens. It takes the bend of your waist. It picks up a low sheen where it runs through the loops.
It gets more comfortable, not more colourful.
How do I care for it?
Wipe with a dry cloth as needed. Condition every 6 months with a quality full-grain leather conditioner. If wet, blot dry and air-dry naturally. Avoid prolonged direct sun or extreme heat.
Is it water-resistant?
Light splashes are fine. The leather has natural water resistance. It is not waterproof, so don't soak it. If it gets caught in heavy rain, blot with a soft cloth and let it air-dry naturally. Do not apply heat (no hairdryers, no radiators).
Shipping & returns?
Free shipping on every order across Canada and the US, no minimum. Ships in 1–2 business days from our Ontario workshop. Free size exchanges within 30 days. For a refund, return within 30 days and you pay the return postage. Lifetime warranty thereafter for defects.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Lifetime against manufacturing defects. Does not cover normal wear, misuse, accidental damage, or cosmetic aging of leather. Repair or replacement, our choice.
